A BROKEN SYSTEM
NYC Is Failing Students With Special Needs
—and Minority Kids Have It the Worst

This special report follows the stories of a community group of Latina mothers of children with special needs in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, a low-income immigrant neighborhood. Their stories are an example of how the city is failing to provide services to minority students with special needs and the consequences of that failure. These families' achievements may show a path to improving the lives of Latino children with special needs in the city.

DATA STORY

By COVID-19 In North Carolina

Latinos account for more than 40% of the state's infections, although they only make up 9.6% of the population. But there are some areas where the impact has been even more extreme. This is the special report we did to find those with La Noticia and WFAE.
We identify 30 countries that have been hit the hardest by COVID-19 and need additional support and resources. In addition, we bring stories from the community.
